Valstrath FAQHow do I beat that cheapskate Ronan-Copy devil, Ashtaroth?
Here's a specific breakdown on how Ashtaroth functions.
Movement Patterns:He never walks, only runs and is able to jump all the way up to wherever you are.
During his jump, 3 things can happen:
a) He does nothing. Because you're probably way beyond reach of his attacks
b) A sword slash. This only occurs on his ascent if you're close enough
c) A downward high speed slash. Either as an immediate counterattack in the air or if you position yourself diagonally below him
Otherconditions can make "C" randomly occur. Attacks that throw him up in the air too rapidly (Explosion and flame damage from Feste's bombs) Or just collective attacks from the team itself.
How about stationary? He has 2 attacks.
A 3-slash and one magic spell combo - use mana break to escape.
A ball of powerful dark energy, shot across the map - mana break is useless, one hit.
The Ashtaroth Strike (Don't call it Kanavan... He was never from there is he?)Similar to Ronan's Kanavan Strike, Ashtaroth's is...
Faster - He gives you so little as a second to run
Higher - From ground level, the magic blades rise all the way to the highest platforms
Wider - Longer reach to the front, but a little on his rear. It's still wide.
Damaging - Needless to say, carelessness will prove a heavy price.
How to avoid getting hit? D:If you're a ranged attacker, keep your distance, occasionally going close just to flank him.
Keep your combos short, or break them if you accidentally start one.
Keep yourself mobile with rapid jump attacks.
Fight him on high ground - dropping down is safer than jumping to escape it.
Execute a (series of) Level 1 skill to over-ride his attack.
*Never Ne'er Ever execute a close-quarter Level 3 skill when he is stationary. You have no escape if your animation sequence ends in the middle of a counter-triggered A-Strike.
His Blind SpotOnly one, when he's down on the ground. His recovery attack only sweeps his front when he gets up. He will not turn around so it is safe to continue attacking him from behind.
*When do we use Level 3's then?Catch him while he's in a jump or during his sword combo. This ensures he is unable to use his A-Strike and allow you to escape in case he does somehow.
Epic FailzAnd you probably didn't know this- if you make him run on ground level, stay still and ignore him, he'll just keep on running. He won't even attack. That's because he can't- programmers never gave Ashtaroth a running attack. Which gives way to abusing any form of recovery or chill out time.
But be warned, he may just jump onto the platforms on other side and this will allow him to continue attacking sequences.
BugThis one is Happy Hour time. An unknown bug sometimes triggers while he runs towards you and he disappears completely. His sprite is still around somewhere but is unable to attack you, only push you. Hope is not lost.
Simply go to either side of the stage and "attack" the wall. If either side "hits", keep going at it till he's done for. Just don't start despairing and rage quit.
VidsVids are up on Ashtaroth and Mynos. Unfortunately I forgot to add in BGMs so yeah, just focus on the silence.. i guess.
